Hello, my name is Dean Smith and I am 18 years old.

I am in the process of setting up an online radio station. We play music that is in the Dance/Trance/Club genre.

I recently found out about Shell LiveWIRE and Business Link and thought that I would get involved so that I could get some help.

At the current time the station is not "Live" because we've not launched and even now, the launch date may be pushed back.

I was just wondering if I need to get a liense to play over the internet. We don't have any investors or sponsors so we have not generated any money from the station.

Is there any advice you can give that would be of abig help? I really need any advice that is based on an online radio station.

Thank you for any of your help.

Regards,
Dean Smith

Hi Dean,

The Performing Rights Society website may be helpful:

Thank you for your reply.

I've already come across this website when looked for a "PPL License" and I am unsure as to how, exactly, it works. It says that I pay a percentage of what money I make. I don't know if I have to pay money when I haven't made any.

Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.

I'd recommend getting in touch with them and finding out what they have to say about your radio station.

Good luck,

Lee
