Im ready to start up my business but I'm confused on how to 'own' the business I start.

For instance, since I dont have anywhere to register my business name, how do I prove I own it and stop someone else from claiming it?

If I started a LLP then I would have to register the name with the companies house, which could then provide me the 'proof' of ownership.

I suppose proof of ownership will come when you register with the Inland Revenue - this must be done within three months of starting trading.
