identifying and contacting key people?

i am seeking to attain sposorship for my venture. A key problem I am faced with is how do I find the contact details of relevant people? For example how do I make sure that I contact the right person from 'Smirnoff' with a responsibility for marketing within the Cardiff area? How do I identify key people for contacting and how do I find their contact details? I have tried the Retail directory 2004 but these are focussed purely on high-street retail and not mobile, banking or alcohol businesses. Where do I source such info????

Hi Dan,

I'd recommend identifying the relevant companies (can be done via the Internet) and then ringing them - ask to speak to someone in marketing, and have a short, snappy sales pitch prepared. You might want to rehearse this a few times so that it doesn't sound like you're reading it from a card!
