I'm currently developing a webpage and about to approach businesses about advertising space on my site. Can anyone advise me on how much to charge? Are there roughly standard rates for sites depending on the number of users? Any approximate suggestions would be helpful.

I guess what you need to do is figure out the number of users you are giving your potential advertisers access to. There may be some areas of your website that have heavier traffic than others. There are also differing type of adverts ie banners and sponsored links to name a few. Why don't you do some competitor research and find out what others are charging so that you may charge a competitive fee.

I don't think you can say that there is a set fee it is simply a method of weighing up the level of users you give access to and what a company would be willing to pay.

Research would be my first port of call.
