Business forecasting

I am looking to take over an existing business and am at present doing a sales forecast. My question is can I find out the current sales of the business on the web, I have been told you can do this! If not can I ask the current owner for them?
Also I am unemployed and at present do not have money to get an accountant to help with forecasts or a solicitor for advice so are there any free services that I can use to look over my business plan and help with forecasts.
