I have had a powerful piece of software developed by Cambridge University. The total cost was £75,000 which I funded 50% and a grant was provided for the remainder. I need £60,000 to start the business. What share should i offer the investor?

The level of share you offer any investor will depend on what you product's market value is. It all depends what your intentions are - do you want to retain control??
Have you talked to a business adviser ?and looked into other avenues such as bank loans , regional loans offered through enterprise agencies, or even business angels. Look at all options and talk to a business adviser for help - access the finance and funding section on the Shell Livewire site enter your details in your account and sign up to be allocated a free business adviser.
Good luck
