The 1,000 Shell LiveWIRE 'Grand Ideas' Awards winners for October 2009 (awarded at the end of November) are:

Anu Adebajo (The Weave Boutique), Sheffield The Weave Boutique sells a wide range of branded hair extensions aimed mainly at the Afro-Caribbean market. They are the first of their kind in the UK to operate purely online, and are one of the few "hair shops" run by women. In addition to selling products, The Weave Boutique also provide tips, trends and reviews to allow black women in the UK to be as informed as their American counterparts.

Chris Greenwood (Cougar Cricket), Somerset Cougar Cricket offers cricket courses in the Somerset area for 6-15 year olds, with the intention of franchising the Cougar brand further afield once established. Cougar Cricket offers an alternative to the stale, samey Saturday morning clubs that are currently the norm for young people seeking accessible sport. They are a young, enthusiastic and vibrant company that endeavours to use their extensive cricket contacts to add an exciting element to their coaching and training programs.

*Congratulations to Cougar Cricket for receiving the 'People's Choice' award which was voted for online by members of the Shell LiveWIRE community

Commiserations to James Herrington (Harrington's of Bawtry) and Johannah Jolson (Strong Point Theatre) who narrowly missed out on the awards.
