I am new to this forum, I am a post graduate student doing market research for an IT company specialising in In house CMS. They now plan to market their CMS through Software as a Service Delivery model via partners (Web Designers, Web Developers) I am meant to research the market and see if it is viable an option especially with all the open source CMS available. Could you please give me your take on this and also advise me how to go about the whole thing.
Thank you all

Don't want to sound disrespectful, but if you are being paid to do the research, surely you would know how to go about it?
Looking at the business model used by open source customers and CMS resellers sounds like the obvious choice.

Thank you for the post. Wish I was being paid. Its just a project placement and since I haven't anything like this before thought I could do with some help :)

Do they develop custom CMS?, if they do then look at the advantages and disadvantages. Me personally in my company we love custom CMS that way it can be specific to each clients as opposed to off the shelf CMS which you already know has lots of limitations. With open source CMS, its always tidious to start modifying apps to suit own needs as you have to understand the model then modify as needed from top to bottom.

They do develop custom CMS and to be honest its flexible and easy to use. I am saying this because I come from a non IT background but with the help of the manual I got myself around to doing quite a few things :)
I am trying to find out if web designers and web developers like yourself would be up for an in house CMS delivered as SaaS. They are now working on the SaaS bit of it.
Could you please fill this survey out for me. Just 6 questions and takes less than 30 seconds(multiple choice). It is for the statistics i need to produce towards the end of the project placement. Would be really helpful if you could fill it out for me.
Thank you for your time

Thank you so much mrtadebayo.
I was meaning to have an elaborate questionnaire but thought this would suffice if all we are trying to find out is if people would opt for it. They are working on the beta trial version just now and it should be out shortly. Do try it and give us your feedback and help us roll the right product into the market. I take it that is your contact details? Will keep you posted. Thank you once again
