I've just added to a thread started about 'scarycaravan studios' and the thread was immediately deleted. What's up, Shell? A few of our members have donated and we want to know what's going on...

Does anyone have any info on this firm?

What's the issue? Have they done a runner? I'm not really up to speed with them myself, although I do remember the name.

Can you remember what it was about?

I'm not 100% certain if this is the same one, but there was a thread on here last week that some people had replied to, including someone who said that by following the link they had got a virus on their machine.

They requested that the moderators remove the thread, and so rather than risk anyone else on here getting infected I deleted the thread. Better safe than sorry.

Could this be the same one?

No viruses from that thread here.

I just found it very suspicious that literally seconds after replying to it, it was deleted...

I dunno where they posted elsewhere, but I remember seeing the link to the site on another forum, with exactly the same result. Some poor PC (should've got a mac) caught a virus from it, and the thread was deleted soon after banning the member.

I'm really not convinced there was a payload. I visited both sites and my (non-Mac) system is fine.

If it did deliver a payload of sorts, it might have been hacked...

I'd like to get to the bottom of this.

So now we know that the site probably doesn't have a virus on it, what is the problem with it/them Eagle? I don't understand from your first post.

I'm not really sure what the problem is.

A thread was started, and some people said not to click on the link as they had done so and got a virus on their machine.

As Web Development Executive + Moderator for Shell LiveWIRE I thought it was best to just delete the thread rather than risk anyone else on the Forum being put at risk. I certainly didn't want to click on the link myself (just to find out if it was true or not).

So, there's nothing suspicious going on. I'm just trying to look after all our members. Fair enough?

Ok, I'll accept that the deletion time was just a coincidence.

Scarycaravan Studios are supposed to be producing a film and had asked for people to donate towards it.

A few of our members have donated and, now that SC seems to have disappeared, I want to chase the matter up.
