I am looking for some exercises to do on a Monday morning with the whole team.

We all meet at 09:30 on a Monday and talk about any issues or activities from last week and the week ahead. Each department says their bit but I feel the time would be much better spent getting everyone excited and motivated for the day / week.

I want to have an environment for innovation and get people thinking creatively.

Can anyone help me make Mondays something people look forward to?

My old boss used to insist the monthly staff meeting was held in the pub - the attendance level was always rather good for it :D

My suggestion would be to make sure the meeting are effectively, and they actually need to be run. There's nothing worse than meeting weekly, when a monthly one would do - I know I used to get really fedup with the weekly meeting when a bigger monthly one would be better.

Try not to do anything too gimmicky... you don't want to come across as David Brent!

You could always get everyone to write the name of a cool website they've seen in the last week on a piece of paper and put them all in to a hat as they come into the meeting.

Then a couple are randomly picked out and looked at by the group with people chirping out loud with comments why they like the site/dislike it, discuss what useful/ good design etc.

It's the kind of thing that will get different reactions from people e.g. what is good design and media to one person isn't to another, and get some lively discussion going.

Another good creative energy generating idea (and cheap!) is doing small team activities like having 5 minutes to build the funkiest structure with sheets of coloured paper - could also be good opportunity to mix people up into different teams from different departments.

Anyways, just some thoughts :D

Cancel altogether, meetings go off topic most of the time anyway
