Hi just wanted to know about business rate. I am going to be working from home, and just going to be using a computer in my bedroom. On business link website it says that means i won't have to pay business rates on the premises because the main purpose of the room will be bedroom. Does anyone know if i need confirmation for this from my council(manchester)? Or shall i just assume it will be under council tax.

Thanks in advance

Dont believe you need to notify anyone if your not claiming a rebate on tax or rates coz of the co-purpose of the room.

If say you wanted to claim tax back on behalf of your business, which you can, you can get upto 50% tax relief on electrity, gas that type of thing ...as you have a home and work place in same building, then you'd have to notify them and possibly receive and inspection.

You'd have to weigh up whether the tax and rates relief you'd receive is worth the hassle...
