Just looking to find out what people think are the best shopping cart software?

Was going to set up a poll, but I think that would restrict peoples answers too much!

All responses are greatly appreciated.

Hi Paul,

We recommend osCommerce as it is a mature shopping cart. There are many reliable free and paid for alternatives, but two other good reliable free hybrids of osCommerce are CRELoaded and Zen cart. But there has been news of an exodus from CRELoaded to Zen Cart by the developers, I am not certain of this but if you check the related forum for each product (Zen Cart forum: http://www.zen-cart.com/modules/ipb/ , CRELoaded Cart forum: http://creloaded.com/Forums.html) you will conclude that Zen's forum is far more active and has almost five times the number of members.

One of the main criticisms of osCommerce (or hybrids of it) are that they all look the same! This is only stated by the ignorant.
You can modify a standard osCommerce site to look very different, see popcorn-uk here:
http://www.seiretto.com/featuredsites/ecommerce.php
And see some of the great new templates here:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=oscommerce+templates&btnG=Search&meta
Also, there are some great looking osCommerce sites owned by several of the posters to this forum (most would not even realise the sites were using osCommerce).

I would suggest you stay well away from rigid paid for shopping carts (like actinic, or fastcart) you will eventually find these to be too restrictive and often these systems will NEVER help improve your Google rankings.

We provide fantastico which allows you to click install osCommerce or Zen cart included free of charge:

This is included in all our Reseller/Designer accounts as detailed here:
http://www.seiretto.com/web_hosting/reseller_web_hosting/

Note I am unable to reply today as I must now get some work done but hope that this is of some help to you and others.

Every one I use and design for clients is custom built and tailored to the clients spec.

Paid for and free carts just don't give you that level of flexibility IMHO...

Likewise - we don't work with cart softwares at all.
