Dave Scotford (Red Monster Records)

Dave Scotford runs Red Monster Records, an indie record label and music promotions company based in Dudley, West Midlands (UK), which he started just before Christmas 2008.

"I started crafting my first business idea at the age of 15, running a small online website for youth and grassroots football coaches and referees; Over the next couple of years the site grew into Soccer Coach UK, one of the most visited coaching websites in the country, providing everything from animated training games to coaching products."

"At the age of 18 I switched from the sporting world to follow my big passion, music. I started off by hiring a local pub function room, booked a couple of bands my friends were in, and after a lot of hard work Red Music Promotions was born. That saw one gig a month put on, booking bands from across the West Midlands and hiring venues right across the local area."

"Things started to go really well with the gigs, so I took the leap into the record industry; a pretty big leap after only 4 or 5 months experience in the world of music. I can't play an instrument myself, but have always wanted to be involved in the industry in some way, so running the label is a dream come true really."

"My business has gone from being a small gig once a month to working with some of the best indie bands and solos in the country as a record label. Red Monster Records is starting to develop a good name and a reputation, and our cheeky little monster logo has won a few fans!"
