2010 - Tom Allason (Shutl)
Tom Allason caught the start up bug in his teens and never recovered. He founded eCourier.co.uk, the online courier company with the purple vans in 2003 after a bad experience with his local courier firm. Tom served as eCourier’s CEO from inception, overseeing the company’s growth to over 250 staff & couriers. In 2007, Tom was named “Top Gun” by Growing Business magazine and eCourier “London’s Most Inspirational Business” by the Evening Standard. In 2009 eCourier reached 6 on Deloitte’s list of UK’s fastest growing technology businesses with 5291% growth since 2004. Tom left eCourier in 2008 to found Shutl, a web-service that connects retailers with same-day courier firms.

Shutl aims to become a major disruptive force in e-commerce and home-delivery by enabling delivery of online purchases within as little as 90 minutes for a similar (sometimes cheaper) price to standard delivery. Tom assists a number of early-stage start-ups and serves on the advisory boards of YumShare and BookingBug. He is also a founding trustee of FoundationStone, a charitable trust that invests in start-up charities.
