Entrepreneur: Lauren Howden
Business: The Counted Sheep
Location: Lincolnshire
The Counted Sheep sources British yarn, spun from the fleece of British sheep in British mills to create stylish knitted cushions, designed and manufactured by Lauren herself. The Counted Sheep ethos is to support British farmers, spinning mills and to help rare-breed sheep thrive. Wool is a fantastic natural resource, requiring no unnatural chemical dyes or plastics to be added. The vast majority of 'woollen' goods available contain only a tiny percentage of real wool, often from Turkey. Britain has over 60 breeds of sheep.

The business aims to promote these, with its products becoming affiliated with the Campaign for Wool. The business is manufacturing and retailing a British product that will reach European markets with the utilisation of their planned website, and create awareness of British wool through sales at county fairs, and advertising in national magazines.
